01 · Anatomy of a Blackout: The 'Death Spiral' Cascade
In Sandustry, electrical power operates on an unyielding real-time balance. When machines demand 105 kW but your turbines produce only 100 kW, voltage across all connected machines drops simultaneously.
The fatal flaw in beginner factories is connecting fluid supply pumps to this shared grid. When voltage drops, water pumps slow down. Boilers starve of water, steam generation plummets to zero, and within 15 seconds the entire facility suffers a total blackout.

02 · The 100% Water-Recycling Closed Geothermal Loop
The most reliable power generation method in the game uses zero ongoing fuel: geothermal heat transfer from a natural subterranean Lava pool.
Water injected into a sealed Basalt boiler expands into high-pressure Steam (1 Water = 10 Steam volume units). After expanding through dual Steam Turbines to generate 160 kW, exhaust steam is captured by dual Condensers and converted back into liquid Water, forming a 100% lossless loop.
Power Generation Specs & Recirculation Ratios | System Component | Operating Metric | Fluid / Power Ratio | Critical Threshold |
| Steam Turbine (x2) | Generates 80 kW each (160 kW total) | Consumes 5 Steam / sec | Requires min 80°C steam pressure |
| Water Condenser (x2) | Recovers 100% fluid volume | Converts 5 Steam → 0.5 Water / sec | Must maintain continuous drain |
| Copper Battery (x8) | Stores 2,000 kJ per cell (16,000 kJ) | Zero throughput resistance | Trigger alert if charge dips < 25% |
| Basalt Heat Exchanger | Continuous geothermal transfer | Lava heat without fuel consumption | Lava must be encased in Basalt |

03 · Copper Battery Banking & Demand Smoothing
Heavy machinery like the Kinetic Press and Precision Lasers draw intermittent pulse loads that can briefly exceed generation capacity.
Installing an array of 8 Copper Batteries provides a 16,000 kJ energy reservoir. When lasers fire, the batteries instantly discharge to cover the deficit, keeping generator voltage locked at a steady 100%.

04 · The Emergency 'Cold-Start' Recovery SOP
If your factory has already experienced a complete grid collapse, follow this step-by-step restoration procedure:
1. Disconnect the main factory bus switch immediately to cut off all consumer machines.
2. Manually prime the boiler with a single bucket of Water or activate an auxiliary hand pump.
3. Allow steam pressure to build until the turbines reach 100% RPM and charge the battery buffer to at least 50%.
4. Re-engage factory sectors one at a time, ensuring total consumption never exceeds 140 kW.
