Thermodynamics & Heat Storage
Thermal Buffer Mechanics, Heat Storage & Lava Stabilization
In Sandustry thermodynamics, Thermal Buffers store excess thermal energy from geothermal fissures, Lava streams, or Slag Burners. They absorb rapid temperature fluctuations, ensuring consistent boiler steam generation and preventing pipes from freezing.
| Thermodynamic Metric | Specification | Factory Insulation Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Thermal Absorption | High Heat Capacity | Absorbs burst heat from volcanic vents to prevent regional pipe overheating. |
| Cold Protection | Radiative Dissipation | Buffers cold zones and prevents nearby Water conduits from flash-freezing into Snow. |
| Lava Stability | Temperature Dampening | Maintains Lava above transition temperature to prevent accidental Scoria crusting. |
| Boiler Integration | Inline Pre-Heating | Route boiler feed lines through a Thermal Buffer to stabilize steam turbine output. |
🔥 Basalt Containment Rule
Always surround Thermal Buffers and hot fluid lines with inert Basalt foundations or manufactured tiles. As introduced in Update #3, uncontained high heat will erode and dissolve vulnerable natural rock formations like Fluxite.
