Crackstone is a progression gate, not a resource deposit. It yields nothing when destroyed, so bring the correct excavation tool only when the route beyond it is worth opening.
Working route
Crackstone is visually a hard terrain tile. It is not a material to collect and leaves no output when destroyed.
The official Wiki explicitly states that the Shovel and Gun do not affect Crackstone.
The Rocket Launcher can destroy terrain that smaller digging tools cannot, including Crackstone. The official Crackstone page also lists Drill, Laser, and Void Gun icons as effective advanced options.
Explosives and advanced tools can change a large area. Clear a path to the resource, cave, or factory expansion rather than hollowing the entire chamber.
Opening a route can join a water pocket, Lava cave, or loose-material slope to your base. Contain the new edge before returning to production.
